Let’s Catch Up: Sophia

I don’t know a whole lot, but one thing I know is that I enjoy making genuine connections. I make friends wherever I go by simply sparking up conversations. This has opened the door to some interesting conversations and given me my own stories to tell.

For many years, I had the opportunity to work as a community reporter. I loved every story assignment because it meant someone had something to say and I was going to be the one to help them tell their story.

I now work in local government and while I enjoy my job in marketing and communications, I need to stretch my creative muscle.

This is it. It’s nothing fancy. It’s simple. I want to talk to you and I want to record it and write about it.

Let’s talk about life, about living on the East Coast, West Coast, and everywhere else in between. Let’s laugh together, talk business, discuss culture, fashion. Love and loss. Let’s have those conversations and let’s be candid about it.

This first interview isn’t edited. In fact, I don’t even have an opening or a real logo, what you see is something I drew up a few minutes ago. I figure I need to just do this thing I’ve been wanting to do. Stop procrastinating. And as a dear friend told me, KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID.

This interview is with my 13-year-old daughter, Sophia, and it was recorded before I made breakfast this morning.

Our 20-minute discussion covered topics that ranged from the pandemic, virtual learning, her friendships, politics (mostly one-sided, my side lol), the COVID vaccine, chickenpox, and how donuts kept her from quitting a competitive math league she participated in. There were some interruptions from the dogs and my son, her brother, JQ.

Thank you, Sophia, for your time and for being a trouper. I love you.
